Letting Go of My Ballerina Dream & Bedroom Wall Art

The Tutu That Wasn't

Well, isn't that something? I was just thinking the other day about my dreams of being a ballerina. Picture this: little me, all of maybe five years old, convinced I was going to be the next Margot Fonteyn. I had the whole thing planned out. Big fluffy tutu, sparkling tiara, the works. I even practiced my pliés in the living room, much to the amusement (and occasional horror) of my dear mother.

Of course, reality had other plans. Turns out, grace and coordination aren't exactly my strong suits. I'm more of a "bull in a china shop" type, if you catch my drift. After a few too many tumbles and a rather unfortunate incident involving a lamp and a very dramatic arabesque, my ballerina dreams gracefully (or not so gracefully) pirouetted out the door.

Finding Beauty in the Unexpected

But you know what? I don't regret it one bit. Letting go of that dream opened me up to so many other wonderful things. I discovered a love for painting, a talent for gardening (though my roses sometimes look like they've been through a war), and a real knack for making a mean chocolate chip cookie. And while I may not be dancing on stage, I still find ways to express my creativity and bring beauty into the world.

Which brings me to my bedroom. It's my little sanctuary, a place where I can relax, recharge, and surround myself with things that make me happy. And what makes me happier than some gorgeous wall art for bedroom? I’ve always loved the way a simple piece of art can transform a space, turning it from a plain room into a reflection of your personality. I finally put up that floral painting my daughter gave me last year. Funny enough, my daughter always wanted to be a florist, but now she's a lawyer, go figure!

A Symphony of Color and Memories

I've always found that colors can impact how a space feels. I decided to go with warmer tones in the bedroom. It reminds me of a painting I once saw of a Tuscan sunset - warm oranges, deep reds, and soft yellows. I thought, "Good gravy, if that doesn't make a gal feel cozy, I don't know what will!" I tell you, it makes all the difference.

Now, I know some folks think that art is just a frivolous expense. But I see it as an investment – an investment in your happiness, your well-being, and your overall quality of life. I firmly believe that surrounding yourself with beautiful things can have a profound impact on your mood and your outlook on the world. And let me tell you, these days, we could all use a little more beauty in our lives, couldn’t we?

The Power of Personal Touches

My bedroom isn't just a room; it's a gallery of memories. The framed photo of my grandchildren building sandcastles on the beach, the handmade quilt my grandmother stitched with so much love, the quirky little ceramic bird I picked up at a flea market in Maine. Each piece tells a story, evokes a feeling, and reminds me of the people and experiences that have shaped my life. It also reminds me of all the dreams I've had, even the ones that didn't quite pan out the way I expected. I think I may even add some new art prints for bedroom above the headboard soon. Maybe something with wildflowers, it would bring the garden inside!

And that's the beauty of it all, isn't it? Life is a journey, not a destination. It's about embracing the unexpected, finding joy in the everyday moments, and surrounding yourself with things that bring you comfort and happiness. So, while I may not be twirling across a stage in a tutu, I'm dancing through life in my own way, one beautiful moment at a time. Now, who's up for a cup of tea and a chocolate chip cookie? Goodness.
